About KELC

The Kansas Early Learning Collaborative, KELC, is a unique partnership among six statewide early learning organizations funded by a Early Childhood Block Grant (ECBG) from the Kansas Children’s Cabinet and Trust Fund (KCCTF).

Vision: families are strong and children are prepared to succeed in school and life

Mission: promoting community-based early learning systems which collectively benefit children and families

Why Collaboration?
Across sectors, collaboration has been consistently adopted as an approach to addressing complex problems. In a study of the impact of collaboration in early care and education, Selden and his colleagues found that "in addition to it's impact on management and program processes, collaboration had a direct impact on the experiences of clients. Parents whose children were served through these collaborations believed they had a positive impact on school readiness, controlling for other factors that might influence school readiness." (Selden, et al 2006).
